The reserve contains a diverse range of wildlife. The woodland explodes with the songs of warblers, tits and wrens, whilst the open glades and pathways are haunts for badgers, foxes and roe deer.

The reserve is full of wildflowers and fungi, and a huge variety of invertebrates have been recorded.

Otters, dippers, herons and kingfishers can be found along the river, while several birds of prey, including peregrine falcons, tawny owl, barn owl and sparrowhawk, make the reserve their home.
